How to configure your telematics system

Here at Unavin we use Telematics data from your Telematis system to help you keep track of any events when your Vehicles / Drivers are on the road. We apply our own algorithm to reduce noise in the Telematics data. In some cases we provide you with settings for tweaking this algorithm.

We have already built multiple integrations with Telematics systems and keep adding more. Some Telematics systems like V-Daq have API for us to receive your Telematics data instantly. But mostly Telematics systems would only be able to email reports / extracts.

We’ve put a general instruction on how to set up email reporting in your Telematics system:

1. Log in into your Telematics system

2. Find Reporting / Analytics / Settings section.

3. Select Fleet and report / extract type (Speeding, Waypoint Speeding, Fatigue, etc.)

4. In order for the report / extract to be emailed daily - make sure you schedule daily report / extract generation and sending.

5. Telematics systems would have reports / extracts in different formats, please check Telematics Configuration in Unavin to find the file name and format that is expected by Unavin.

6. Unavin would generate a unique email for each of your Telematics system + report type. Copy this email address from Telematics Configuration in Unavin into your Telematics system setting for the report / extract to be emailed to.

 7. In some cases Telematics systems (i.e. NAVMAN) will not allow you to use external email to have reports / extracts sent to. In this case you can either use Unavin provided email to create a user in Telematics System or send reports to one of the current Telematics System users. In the latter case you will need to have automatic redirection set up for this user’s email: once email with report / extract is received it is automatically redirected to Unavin provided email for this Telematics system - report type.
